Expected to be completed early 2010, the National Ice Sports Centre built in the heart of Docklands is a $58 million recreational hub for Victorians that will accommodate for winter sports. The centre will also be the home to the Olympic Winter Institute of Australia, providing a top level training ground for elite athletes.
The centre features two rinks with spectator seating; the walls and ceiling are designed with Ortech Durra Panels for thermal insulation. Contractors installed the Durra Ceiling system in record time using the Durra Lifting Frame; approximately 40 minutes per 100m² ceiling module.
